A different type of enduro

A traditional Time Card Enduro is not simply a flat-out lap race. Riders follow a route to scheduled time controls, while special tests provide the principal timed competition. Speed matters, but so do timing, consistency and endurance. Read BRAAP's Time Card Enduro guide for a fuller explanation.

The final Time Card weekend of 2026

From the early-morning paddock build-up to the forest riding and changes in the weather, this film documents more than race highlights. It records the riders, the conditions and the community that make Drumtochty memorable. The event belongs in BRAAP's 2026 Enduro archive, alongside other coverage from the Scottish season.

What makes Drumtochty Enduro so demanding?

Drumtochty is a forest Time Card Enduro, and its difficulty comes from more than one fast section. Riders have to negotiate a course that can change throughout the day while keeping enough energy and concentration for their timed tests. The contrast between the quiet paddock before the start and the physical work out on the route is central to BRAAP's film.

For the September 2026 weekend the conditions changed as the event unfolded. The documentary moves from early starts and campsite preparations to the riding, crashes and shifting weather. That progression gives viewers a picture of what it takes to get through a full Scottish Time Card weekend, rather than a montage of isolated race clips.

The riders behind the race

The title Brutal Enduro: Why Riders Love Drumtochty asks why people return to such challenging events. The answer is not just lap times. The film puts rider perspectives alongside the footage, showing the satisfaction of meeting a difficult challenge, the shared routine of preparing for a race and the community that develops around Scottish Enduro.

BRAAP followed the atmosphere of the weekend as well as the action: the paddock, signing on, the changing forest conditions and the on-bike view. That wider coverage helps show what a Time Card Enduro feels like to someone considering their first event, as well as giving those who were there a record of the season finale.
