Time Card Enduro
Explained
Time Card Enduro mixes off-road riding, special tests and timekeeping. You are not simply racing flat-out all day — staying on schedule matters too.
Ride the route, arrive at time controls on schedule, and set your fastest times in the special tests.
How Time Card Enduro Works
A Time Card Enduro is usually made up of road or trail sections linking off-road going, time controls and one or more special tests. Riders are given a schedule and must aim to reach each control at the correct time. The special tests are the sections where outright speed is measured.
Follow the Route
Ride the marked course and liaison sections in the correct direction.
Stay on Time
Your time card tells you when you should arrive at each control. Early or late arrival can carry penalties.
Race the Tests
Special tests are timed for speed. These are normally where the fastest riders gain or lose the most ground.

The Bit New Riders Worry About
Your time card is simply the schedule you carry through the event. It records your expected times and, depending on the event, control information. The important thing is not to panic: work from your scheduled time, keep track of the next control and do not assume that arriving early is automatically better.
Be There at the Right Time
These manage the schedule of the event. Riders are expected to check in at their allocated time rather than simply arriving as fast as possible.
This Is Where You Race
Special tests are timed sections ridden as quickly as possible. Your test times form a major part of the competitive result.
What Happens If You Are Early or Late?
Time penalties can be added when a rider reaches controls outside the permitted schedule. The exact rules, allowances and penalties can vary by championship regulations and event instructions, so do not rely on a simplified web guide on race morning.

Do Not Chase Experts
Ride at a pace you can sustain. Your first objective is to understand the format and finish.
Know Your Next Time
Before leaving a control, know which control comes next and what time you are due there.
Read the Final Instructions
Event-specific instructions matter. Check signing-on, start procedure, course information and any local rules.
